UKDW Faculty of Theology Holds Research Poster Exhibition on Theology, Church, and Societ
The Faculty of Theology at Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) in Yogyakarta held a Research Poster Exhibition at the Agape Atrium from March 11–13, 2026. The exhibition features a range of research plans and findings in the fields of theology, church life, and society, conducted by faculty members and graduate students of the UKDW Faculty of Theology.
Through this event, the Faculty of Theology provides an open academic space for the academic community to present and share research ideas in a visual and communicative format. The exhibition is also intended to strengthen the university’s academic culture while encouraging interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge.
A total of 33 research posters are presented in the exhibition. Each poster summarizes a research project, including its background, theoretical framework, methodology, and key findings or proposed areas of study currently being developed.
The exhibition highlights a wide range of engaging topics. One study examines head coverings (veils) as a form of control over women’s bodies or, alternatively, as a reinforcement of identity, offering a reinterpretation of biblical texts within contemporary social contexts. Other research explores themes such as the parenting of children with special needs, life after death, and various issues related to the dynamics of church life and society.
Several posters also address contemporary social concerns, including personal financial management, trauma experienced by survivors of sexual violence, and ecofeminist critiques of patriarchal dogma within church traditions.
Meanwhile, other studies focus on the psychological and spiritual challenges faced by people in today’s society. These include discussions on Christian perspectives of hope for peace amid rising depression among young people, reflections on toxic masculinity, and theological perspectives on human awareness of death.
Through this diversity of topics, the poster exhibition demonstrates that theological scholarship extends beyond the study of texts or doctrines, engaging directly with real-world issues in society. In this way, theological research is expected to offer both reflective insights and practical contributions to the life of the church and the wider community.
The Faculty of Theology at UKDW hopes that the Research Poster Exhibition will serve as a collaborative learning platform that enriches academic perspectives while strengthening interdisciplinary dialogue within the campus community. In the future, similar initiatives are expected to continue as part of efforts to cultivate an active research tradition that remains relevant to the evolving dynamics of society.
