UKDW Formalizes Coaching Support to Foster Student Growth
Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) in Yogyakarta reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing student talent and achievement by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with coaches of various student clubs and organizations on Monday, June 23, 2025. The ceremony took place at the Rudi Budiman Lecture Hall on campus.
This strategic move ensures that each student organization—locally referred to as Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM)—receives structured and professional guidance. The MoU was signed by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, Information, and Innovation along with coaches selected based on their experience and expertise in their respective fields. The event was witnessed by the Head of the Office of Student Affairs, Alumni, and Career Development Office and the chairpersons of all active student organizations. Additionally, members from each group were invited to sign a symbolic commitment, reinforcing their dedication to the student organization they are part of.
The agreement outlines collaboration in regular training programs, mentorship during competitions or performances, and ongoing evaluation and reporting of member development. Beyond skill training, coaches are also expected to support students’ character-building, mental resilience, and ethical growth. This partnership is set for one academic year and may be renewed based on mutual evaluation. In their remarks, both Vice Rector and the Head of Biro 3 emphasized that coaches are more than instructors—they serve as mentors who help shape leadership, teamwork, and a competitive spirit among UKDW students.
Among the coaches who signed the agreement were Muhammad Afrieadi Caesario (Taekwondo), Antonius Hanindro Probojati (Futsal), Oleh with assistant coach Wahyu Dian Prayoga (Basketball), Aditya Sindoro (Badminton), and Romadan Nur Huda (Duta Voice, student chorus).
Muhammad Afrieadi Caesario expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “I’m truly thankful to be part of the student development journey at UKDW. I hope the Taekwondo club becomes even stronger and more accomplished, both on and off campus.” Similarly, Antonius Hanindro Probojati highlighted the deeper value of sports: “Futsal isn’t just about skill—it’s about teamwork and character. I’m here to support students in becoming disciplined, ethical players.”
Basketball coach Oleh shared his enthusiasm for UKDW’s athletic potential. “This campus has great promise in sports. We’ll do our best to make the basketball team more competitive while cultivating sportsmanship,” he said. From the badminton club, Aditya Sindoro added, “Consistent and disciplined training yields results. Let’s shape the badminton club into a solid and successful team.”
From the creative arts, Duta Voice coach Romadan Nur Huda emphasized the role of self-expression in performance: “Voice is a gift, and vocal art is how we share it. I hope Duta Voice becomes a space for expression, achievement, and community among its members.”
During the event, student leaders also reflected on the past year’s accomplishments and challenges, while expressing their renewed commitment to growth. They welcomed the support of experienced coaches in sharpening their skills and expanding their impact. Through this MoU, UKDW reinforces its vision of holistic education by ensuring that student potential in both the arts and athletics is cultivated with professionalism and sustainability.
