UKDW Rector Meets Alumni in Timor-Leste, Expands Collaboration
The Rector of Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW), Dr.-Ing. Wiyatiningsih, S.T., M.T., met with UKDW alumni in Dili, Timor-Leste, on Sunday, March 15, 2026. She was accompanied by Vice Rector for Human Resource Development, Promotion, and Networking, Rev. Wahju Satria Wibowo, Ph.D.; Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, Restyandito, Ph.D.; and Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni of the Faculty of Business, Lucia Nurbani Kartika, S.Pd., Dipl. Secr., M.M.
The gathering aimed to strengthen connections with alumni while exploring opportunities for academic collaboration between UKDW, the Timor-Leste government, and local universities.
In her remarks, the Rector expressed her pleasure at visiting Timor-Leste and meeting alumni who are contributing to various sectors of national development. She also noted her admiration for the progress of Dili, particularly in its coastal and port areas, which she said reflect the country’s ongoing development.
“I imagine that UKDW graduates—especially those from the Architecture program—have played a role in this progress,” she said during the event, held at Nelayan Bidau Restaurant.
She also commended UKDW alumni for their contributions across different fields in Timor-Leste, noting that their presence in key sectors demonstrates the university’s ability to produce graduates who make a meaningful impact. The event, attended by around 100 alumni, is expected to further strengthen relationships and expand UKDW’s international network.
Vice Rector Wahju Satria Wibowo expressed appreciation to the alumni who organized the gathering and emphasized the importance of maintaining strong ties with overseas graduates.
“We hope our alumni will continue to share their experiences and help strengthen connections between UKDW and institutions in Timor-Leste. Looking ahead, we also see opportunities to expand collaboration, including providing access to tuition benefits for family members of alumni who wish to study at UKDW,” he said.
Eugenia Urania da Costa Correia, a UKDW alumna who currently serves as Executive Director of Committee 25 (Comité Orientador – CO25), welcomed the visit and expressed optimism about future collaboration.
“We are pleased to welcome the UKDW Rector. We hope this visit will lead to long-term partnerships, particularly in academic collaboration between Timor-Leste and UKDW,” she said.
