UKDW and Binterbusih Foundation Expand Higher Education Access for Papuan Students through YPMAK–Timika Scholarships
YOGYAKARTA – Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) has reinforced its commitment to equitable education in Indonesia by partnering with the Binterbusih Foundation. The collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) on August 11, 2025, at UKDW, focusing on providing higher education opportunities for recipients of the YPMAK–Timika Scholarship program.
The agreement ensures that students from Papua—particularly from Timika, Pegunungan Bintang, and Puncak—will be able to pursue their studies at UKDW with full financial support.
Rector Dr.-Ing. Wiyatiningsih, S.T., M.T., emphasized that the scholarships go beyond financial assistance.
“We believe that every young person, without exception, has the right to quality education. Through this partnership, we want to open doors for Papuan students to study at UKDW, develop their potential, and prepare for a brighter future,” she said.
Representing the Binterbusih Foundation, Chairman Pascalis Abner expressed gratitude for the collaboration.
“We thank UKDW for the trust and willingness to partner with us in mentoring and preparing young people from Timika, Pegunungan Bintang, and Puncak. Our hope is that these students will have the skills and opportunities to secure good employment in Papua. We look forward to strengthening this cooperation in the future,” he said.
Following the signing, UKDW officials presented details of the scholarship programs available at the university, as well as the facilities and support that Papuan scholarship recipients would receive. The session also included an explanation of admissions pathways and mechanisms for new students.
This initiative is expected to provide tangible access to higher education for Papuan students, giving them equal opportunities to grow, achieve, and contribute both to their communities and to the nation at large.
