Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta held the first round of graduation ceremonies this year on Saturday, 29 February 2020 at Koinonia Auditorium. In this graduation day, UKDW graduates 182 students; 171 from undergraduate programs and 11 from graduate programs.
“We are happy for the success of all graduates today – a fruit of all prayers, efforts, and supports, even sacrifices from parents, families, and friends. This academic achievement should be followed by a greater commitment and responsibility in the future,” said UKDW Rector Dr. Henry Feriadi in front of the graduates.
After graduating from UKDW, the graduates are expected to be ready to continuously develop themself (spirituality character, personality, attitude) positively and implement their knowledge in the field they want to pursue. A piece of diploma, academic transcript, and diploma supplement won’t automatically secure a good job, let alone immediate success. To reach the dream job and success in life, a higher, longer, and more difficult learning process is needed, which is called lifelong learning or “the university of life”.
Amelia Talenta Putri from the Architecture Department as the representative of graduates conveyed that their fight was just started. She hoped the graduates can apply the knowledge they got from this campus to the new environment or working place. “I also hope that we can live and do everything with heart, surely it will also be accepted by heart. I believe we can be a blessing for others,” she stated.
