Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta once again brought together students, industry, and educational institutions through EduCareer Connect 2026<\/em>, held under the theme \u201cFrom Campus to Career: Connecting Education, Opportunities, and Global Futures.\u201d<\/em> The event took place on May 12, 2026, at the Agape Atrium and served as a platform for students and alumni to explore career pathways, internships, scholarships, and international opportunities.<\/p>\n

The event was jointly organized by UKDW\u2019s Office of Student Affairs, Alumni Relations, and Career Development (Biro III) and the Office of Partnerships and Public Relations (Biro IV). EduCareer Connect 2026 attracted strong participation from students, alumni, and members of the wider community throughout the day.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s program featured three main components: a job fair, a scholarship and study fair, and an exhibition of internship and international program opportunities. Through these initiatives, UKDW provided students and graduates with direct access to information on further education, career development, and professional networking opportunities.<\/p>\n

UKDW Rector Dr.-Ing. Wiyatingsih, S.T., M.T., expressed appreciation to the participating organizations and emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions and industry partners.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for being part of EduCareer Connect. We hope this collaboration will continue to grow through various forms of partnership and engagement,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

According to Wiyatingsih, partnerships between universities and industry extend far beyond recruitment. Collaboration can also take the form of scholarship programs, initiatives supporting the university\u2019s missions in education, research, and community engagement, student competency development, and international cooperation.<\/p>\n

One of the event\u2019s highlights was a talk show titled \u201cBridging Academia and Industry: Preparing Students for the Future of Digital Innovation,\u201d<\/em> featuring Chris Wang, MBA, General Manager of Nexience Technologies Pte. Ltd., China.<\/p>\n

During the session, students gained insights into developments in the technology sector, emerging digital innovation trends, and the competencies required in today\u2019s economy. Discussions also emphasized the importance of practical experience, relevant skill development, and an adaptive mindset throughout the university experience.<\/p>\n

Rev. Jeniffer Fresy Porielly Wowor, M.A., Ph.D., Head of UKDW\u2019s Office of Partnerships and Public Relations, encouraged students to take full advantage of the event as an opportunity to broaden their perspectives, build professional connections, and better understand workplace expectations.<\/p>\n

\u201cStudents need more than theoretical knowledge in the classroom. They must also understand how their knowledge can be applied to create meaningful impact in society,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The second talk show, titled \u201cKey Competencies for University Graduates: The Soft Skills and Hard Skills Required in Today\u2019s Workforce,\u201d<\/em> featured Dr. Yosua Jap, SE., S.Th., M.Th., CBC, CHCCM, Business International Group Director at Orang Tua Group.<\/p>\n

The session explored the competencies most sought after by employers, highlighting the importance of balancing technical expertise and academic knowledge with essential soft skills such as communication, leadership, collaboration, and adaptability.<\/p>\n

Through the discussion, students were encouraged to better understand industry expectations and begin developing strategies to strengthen their competitiveness as future graduates.<\/p>\n

EduCareer Connect 2026 brought together a diverse range of companies and educational institutions, including Olympic Group, Orang Tua Group, Toyota Astra Financial Services, Kapal Api Group, Bank Mandiri, Bank BPD DIY, Ambarrukmo Group Yogyakarta, Dr. Oen Solo Baru Hospital, Nusantara Sakti, Champion Multikarya Pandhega, Kinobi, IDP Education Indonesia, Nexience Technologies Pte. Ltd., Aalto University, Central International Education, Taiwan Education Center, and the Indonesian-German Institute.<\/p>\n

Through EduCareer Connect 2026, UKDW continues to strengthen collaboration between higher education and industry while preparing students to become adaptable, competitive, and globally minded professionals ready to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.<\/p>\n
