Universitas risten Duta Wacana (UKDW) continues to strengthen its international partnerships through a Visiting Professor Program with Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) of Winnipeg, Canada, during the second semester of the 2025\/2026 academic year. The program is supported by Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), Mennonite Mission Network (MMN), and Mennonite Church Canada International Witness (CW).<\/p>\n
As part of the program, two CMU scholars\u2014Wendy Kroeker, Associate Professor, and Gordon Zerbe, Professor Emeritus and Senior Scholar\u2014have been engaged in a range of academic activities at UKDW\u2019s Faculty of Theology throughout the semester.<\/p>\n
Their presence reflects UKDW\u2019s ongoing efforts to enrich students\u2019 learning experiences while strengthening international academic networks. During their time at UKDW, Kroeker and Zerbe have contributed to teaching, research, and academic program development across the Faculty of Theology.<\/p>\n
In the area of teaching and learning, both scholars have collaborated with UKDW faculty members through co-teaching arrangements in several courses. They have also contributed to a joint course on Ethics and Peacebuilding<\/em>, which explores ethical issues and peacebuilding efforts in both global and local contexts.<\/p>\n Beyond the classroom, Kroeker and Zerbe have delivered public lectures, participated in collaborative research projects with faculty members and students, and supported the development and promotion of UKDW\u2019s International Summer School program. They have also contributed to initiatives aimed at expanding international academic networks and advancing plans for the establishment of a Centre for Mennonite Studies at UKDW.<\/p>\n The collaboration extends beyond academic activities on campus. Kroeker and Zerbe have also participated in community engagement programs organized by the Faculty of Theology in partnership with churches and institutions in various regions. These activities have included collaborations with GKMI Kudus, the Institute for Research and Development of the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Java (GITJ) in Pati, and Mennonite Diakonia Service (MDS) Indonesia.<\/p>\n Through the Visiting Professor Program, UKDW and CMU continue to strengthen a partnership that has developed over many years.
