YOGYAKARTA \u2013 The Faculty of Information Technology at Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (FTI UKDW) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Yogyakarta Regional Board of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPD HIPMI DIY) to strengthen micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through digital transformation.<\/p>\n

The partnership, formalized on August 5, 2025, aims to bridge academia and industry in supporting MSMEs to adapt to the digital economy. Under the theme \u201cSynergy Between Industry and University for Strengthening MSMEs Through Digital Transformation,\u201d<\/em> the collaboration will focus on practical technology solutions, student involvement, and community-based innovation.<\/p>\n

HIPMI DIY leaders highlighted that many MSMEs still face challenges in digitalization, from lacking online profiles to limited capacity in managing digital tools. \u201cCollaboration with universities is essential to produce flagship projects in digital transformation that deliver real impact for entrepreneurs,\u201d said Yosep Andi Setyawan, HIPMI DIY board member.<\/p>\n

FTI UKDW Dean, Restyandito, Ph.D., emphasized that the initiative benefits both MSMEs and students. \u201cOur commitment is not only academic but also about preparing students with industry-relevant skills. Through HIPMI, they gain exposure to real business challenges while contributing solutions that empower local enterprises.\u201d<\/p>\n

Planned activities include joint training programs, development of business process templates, support for MSME cooperatives, and the creation of a shared co-working space. The partnership will also engage students in internships, software development, sales data analysis, and app design, while HIPMI entrepreneurs contribute as industry mentors.<\/p>\n

The agreement reflects a growing recognition that universities and business communities must collaborate to accelerate digital inclusion. By aligning research capacity with entrepreneurial networks, FTI UKDW and HIPMI DIY hope to foster innovation ecosystems that make MSMEs more resilient and competitive.<\/p>\n

The collaboration is expected to deliver tangible economic benefits for Yogyakarta and beyond, while also equipping the next generation of IT graduates with hands-on experience in digital transformation.<\/p>\n
