The visit facilitated an exploration of potential academic collaboration between Walailak University&#8217;s School of Education and UKDW\u2019s Faculty of Education and Humanities. This initiative marks a significant step toward building a sustainable partnership, particularly in education, research, and student development. <em>Striving for Excellence<\/em> is a shared value upheld by both institutions and serves as a common vision in establishing this collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting, held at the Rev. Dr. Harun Hadiwijono Seminar Room, began with a warm welcome from UKDW Vice Rector IV, Rev. Dr. Wahju Satria Wibowo, who expressed appreciation for the visit of the Walailak University delegation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s meeting is a promising first step toward a partnership between UKDW and Walailak University. We believe in the power of cross-country, cross-background, and cross-perspective collaboration. Through this partnership, we see great potential to strengthen institutional capacity through academic exchange, joint research, and community engagement. We are very enthusiastic about future collaborations\u2014not only with the Faculty of Education and Humanities but also with other faculties,\u201d said Vice Rector IV.<\/p>\n<p>The Walailak University delegation, led by Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charan Boonyakan, introduced the profile of their institution, which was established in 1992. Over the past eight years, Walailak has seen significant improvements in national rankings and now ranks among the top six universities in Thailand. Additionally, Walailak University has adopted the United Kingdom Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) across all its teaching activities as a strategy to enhance educational quality and ensure international standards in faculty professional development.<\/p>\n<p>The discussion between the two parties was dynamic and constructive, covering various collaborative opportunities including joint courses, student exchanges, credit transfer, training programs, and student engagement activities. Several engaging ideas emerged, such as a buddy program to promote language and cultural exchange as well as English language improvement. Student activities focusing on leadership and ecological themes also sparked interest from both sides. These initiatives are expected to enrich academic experiences while fostering cross-cultural connections among students from both institutions.<\/p>\n<p>On this occasion, Dr. Raden Bima Adi, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Humanities at UKDW, expressed interest in forming a Southeast Asian regional consortium, with Walailak University as one of its strategic partners. Meanwhile, Ignatius Tri Endarto, M.A., Head of the English Language Education Department at UKDW, proposed the development of a course titled <em>Digital Tourism in Southeast Asia<\/em> as a relevant and contextual form of academic collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>As a follow-up to this meeting, both parties agreed to maintain intensive communication and begin taking concrete steps to formalize the partnership as a foundation for long-term cooperation.
