In a move to strengthen student counseling services, the Campus Spirituality, Counseling, and Pastoral Care Center (LPKKSK) at Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) has partnered with the Faculty of Psychology at Mercu Buana University Yogyakarta (UMBY). This collaboration aims to improve mental health support and student well-being through innovative programs and hands-on experience.<\/p>\n
As part of the initiative, students from UMBY\u2019s Professional Psychology Education Program will take part in a two-month internship at LPKKSK UKDW. The program is designed to give students practical experience in campus counseling, allowing them to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world situations under the guidance of experienced professionals.<\/p>\n
Beyond training future psychologists, the partnership also seeks to enhance counseling services for UKDW students. By integrating additional resources and expertise, LPKKSK UKDW aims to provide more in-depth support, helping students manage academic pressures, social issues, and personal challenges. The services range from one-on-one counseling to broader psychoeducation programs.<\/p>\n
The collaboration was formalized with the signing of a cooperation agreement in February 2025, reinforcing both institutions’ commitment to student mental health.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the rise of mental health concerns among young people, this partnership is an important step toward integrating psychological support within educational institutions. It ensures that students receive the guidance they need to manage challenges and reach their full potential,\u201d said Rev. Nani Minarni, head of LPKKSK UKDW.<\/p>\n
Angelina Dyah Arum Setyaningtyas, head of UMBY\u2019s Professional Psychology Education Program, emphasized the program\u2019s benefits for both students and the wider academic community.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur psychology students will gain hands-on experience delivering mental health services in an educational setting, allowing them to put their knowledge into practice. At the same time, this collaboration helps promote mental health awareness and support among UKDW\u2019s student body,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
This partnership highlights the commitment of both universities to fostering a learning environment that supports students academically, emotionally, and socially.
