Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta has formalized a partnership with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) under Indonesia’s Ministry of Law and Human Rights. The agreement, focusing on the protection and utilization of intellectual property, was signed during the 2024 Geographical Indications Thematic Year Closing Ceremony at the Shangri-La Hotel in Jakarta on Monday, December 2, 2024.<\/p>\n
The signing ceremony featured UKDW Rector Dr.-Ing. Wiyatiningsih, S.T., M.T., and DJKI Director General Ir. Razilu, M.Si., CGCAE. This collaboration seeks to enhance UKDW\u2019s efforts to safeguard and cultivate the intellectual property created by its academic community, while also promoting greater awareness of intellectual property protection across the institution.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis partnership is a strategic step for UKDW to contribute meaningfully to the development of intellectual property in Indonesia,\u201d said Dr. Wiyatiningsih. \u201cWe aim to inspire our faculty and students to innovate and create works of significant value for society.\u201d<\/p>\n
The event drew notable attendees, including Minister of Law and Human Rights Dr. Supratman Andi Agtas, S.H., M.H., Deputy Minister Prof. Dr. Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, S.H., M.Hum., Special Presidential Staff for Creative Economy Yovie Widianto, and officials from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.<\/p>\n
Dr. Haryo Dimasto Kristiyanto, S.S., M.Sc., Head of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Centrino), emphasized Centrino\u2019s role in preparing UKDW for this milestone. \u201cFor the past four years, Centrino has focused on optimizing intellectual property protection for works produced by our academic community. This has led to increased registrations in 2024 and culminated in this important partnership with DJKI,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Andi Maesara Prakosa, S.E., Project Manager of Centrino, also accompanied the rector, underscoring the team\u2019s commitment to fostering innovation. \u201cThis collaboration reflects UKDW\u2019s dedication to supporting creativity and ensuring the academic contributions of our community are safeguarded and impactful,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
