YOGYAKARTA \u2014 Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) is set to launch its Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Program, designed to provide academic recognition for individuals with significant work experience or specialized skills. The initiative aims to accelerate studies and boost professional competencies, as announced by UKDW Rector Dr.-Ing. Wiyatiningsih, S.T., M.T., during the graduation ceremony held at the Koinonia Auditorium on Saturday, November 30, 2024.<\/p>\n
The program reflects UKDW\u2019s commitment to inclusivity and lifelong learning, offering broader access to academic opportunities. \u201cWe aim to provide a platform where prior experiences are recognized and leveraged to support academic and professional growth,\u201d said Dr. Wiyatiningsih.<\/p>\n
In addition to the RPL program, UKDW is intensifying its international collaborations to enhance global knowledge and cultural exchange opportunities for students and faculty. This effort is complemented by the development of Campus 2 in Sedayu, Bantul Regency, which includes the new Duta Wacana Hospital. The expanded infrastructure aims to increase learning capacity and foster a stronger academic network.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe establishment of Campus 2 is a strategic step toward contributing to societal advancement through education,\u201d said Dr. Wiyatiningsih.<\/p>\n
During the ceremony, UKDW conferred degrees on 301 students, comprising 279 undergraduates and 22 postgraduates. Notably, 15% of undergraduates and 27% of postgraduates achieved cum laude honors. Dr. Rosa Delima, S.Kom., M.Kom., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Research, applauded the graduates for their achievements.<\/p>\n
\u201cI commend the cum laude recipients and appreciate the dedication of our departments in guiding students to success. Additionally, 77% of undergraduates and 60% of postgraduates completed their studies on time, reflecting our commitment to fostering academic excellence,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Addressing the graduates, Dr. Wiyatiningsih urged them to lead not only academically but also as advocates of unity and inclusivity in a rapidly changing world.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this period of political and social transition, we hope you will exemplify wisdom and participative citizenship, promoting justice, democracy, and diversity,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
UKDW, known for its inclusivity, continues to create a welcoming environment for individuals of all backgrounds. \u201cDiversity is our strength. It fosters innovation, growth, and mutual learning,\u201d said Dr. Wiyatiningsih, encouraging graduates to embody the university\u2019s vision of becoming a Sustainable Entrepreneurial Research University (SERU)<\/em>.<\/p>\n One of the graduates, Reni Dwi Winanti from the Divinity Studies program, expressed gratitude for her transformative experience at UKDW. \u201cUKDW has been more than an educational institution\u2014it has instilled values of responsibility, critical thinking, and social awareness. I am ready to contribute to society, applying the lessons and values I\u2019ve gained,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n Ahead of the ceremony, UKDW hosted a preparatory session for graduates, equipping them with insights and strategies to navigate post-graduation challenges.<\/p>\n With these initiatives, UKDW continues to solidify its role as a forward-thinking institution that nurtures talent and fosters meaningful contributions to society.
