\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Rev. Em. Budyanto, Th.D., former Rector of Duta Wacana Christian University (UKDW) Yogyakarta, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the age of 76. He passed at Bethesda Hospital at 2:54 PM local time. The UKDW community is deeply saddened by his passing.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Rev. Budyanto served as Rector from 2002 to 2010, a pivotal period in the university\u2019s history. During his tenure, he played a significant role in strengthening UKDW’s infrastructure and governance, as well as establishing the integrated information systems that continue to benefit the university today.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0In a memorial service held at the UKDW Auditorium on Sunday, September 22, 2024, current Rector Dr.-Ing. Wiyatiningsih, S.T., M.T., expressed her sorrow and gratitude. “This is a difficult moment because we have lost someone dear to us. However, we will always remember what Pak Bud contributed to Duta Wacana. He loved this institution deeply, and his work will continue to inspire us,” she said.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0She also acknowledged Rev. Budyanto\u2019s contributions as a leader and educator, highlighting his wisdom, dedication, and passion for character-building in students. \u201cPak Bud was not only a leader, but also a teacher, mentor, father figure, and friend. He focused on shaping graduates with the unique values that Duta Wacana stands for. While we grieve, we are also grateful for the extraordinary legacy he has left behind.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The final tribute was attended by family, colleagues, UKDW faculty and staff, alumni, and many who had collaborated with Rev. Budyanto during his time as Rector. His leadership and influence have left an indelible mark on the university and its community.
