Duta Wacana Christian University (UKDW) Yogyakarta hosted the second installment of its Leadership Series, titled \u201cUKDW Towards Society 5.0,\u201d on August 12, 2024. The event, held at the UKDW Koinonia Auditorium, is designed to bolster the leadership skills of UKDW\u2019s senior officials and strengthen connections with the university\u2019s board of patrons. Approximately 70 participants attended the session.<\/span><\/p>\n UKDW Rector Dr.-Ing. Wiyatiningsih, S.T., M.T., opened the event with remarks on the pivotal role of leadership in adapting to the Society 5.0 era. \u201cWe must prepare for the significant changes that Society 5.0 will bring. With visionary and collaborative leadership, UKDW is poised to lead in integrating advanced technology into our educational framework,\u201d Dr. Wiyatiningsih said. She also noted that the Leadership Series provides an opportunity to engage with the board of patrons, who offer valuable insights and strengthen the university\u2019s ties with influential figures.<\/p>\n The session was moderated by Ir. Henry Feriadi, M.Sc., Ph.D., who introduced Ir. Mahendro, M.M., as the keynote speaker. Ir. Mahendro brings extensive experience from multinational companies and is currently a Senior Advisor at Indoprima Trans Group. He is also active in church and social organizations.<\/p>\n \u201cMr. Mahendro, a distinguished member of UKDW\u2019s board of patrons, was selected for his influential background and strong connection with the university. His role is vital for UKDW\u2019s progress,\u201d Feriadi said.<\/p>\n Ir. Mahendro\u2019s presentation focused on how Society 5.0 combines the virtual and physical worlds with human-centered values. He explained that each societal element will have a digital twin in the virtual space, impacting systems, business designs, urban planning, and physical spaces to drive societal transformation.<\/p>\n Mahendro also emphasized the need for leadership skills in partnering with diverse stakeholders, enhancing operational execution, and strategic thinking. \u201cBy cultivating long-term relationships based on commercial insight and technical excellence, UKDW can thrive in the Society 5.0 era,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Leadership Series #2 underscores UKDW\u2019s commitment to equipping its leaders for the Society 5.0 era, where technology and human values merge to build a better society.
