According to Dr. Phil. Lucia Dwi Krisnawati, Head of the Office of Partnerships and Public Relations at UKDW Yogyakarta, the GlobEEs 2024 program focuses on activities that allow participants to experience education and culture in different countries and campuses. The activities led by UKDW are aligned with UKDW’s inclusive spirit and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n
The GlobEEs program is an annual agenda hosted alternately between Indonesia and Taiwan. This year, the program is being held in Indonesia, with UKDW and UKSW as the hosts. In Yogyakarta from July 8-12, 2024, GlobEEs participants are invited to engage in activities aligned with SDGs 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDGs 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDGs 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDGs 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe invite GlobEEs participants to engage in activities with UKDW partners focusing on inclusivity and women’s empowerment programs such as the Indonesian Down Syndrome Foundation (YIDSI), YAKKUM Rehabilitation Center, and the Ngestiharjo Women’s Farmers Group (KWT). Additionally, we introduce participants to Javanese culture through angklung and gamelan workshops, and visits to the MuseumKu Gerabah located in the Kasongan Tourist Village, famous for its pottery crafts that have reached international markets,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
After participating in a series of programs in Yogyakarta, GlobEEs participants move on to activities in Salatiga and continue to Solo and East Java. This program serves as a means for students to directly experience the education and culture of other countries. It provides an opportunity for participants to engage in a multicultural learning environment, sharpen their sensitivity, and raise student awareness about the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia and Taiwan, as well as improve their English communication skills.
