Duta Voice, the student choir of Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW), held a Pre-Competition Concert Advisor on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the UKDW Chapel. The event was part of their final preparations for the Swara Saraswati Festival 2025, set to take place from February 12-16 at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta.
Hosted by Vocalista Harmonic Choir ISI Yogyakarta, the Swara Saraswati Festival is a prestigious choral competition. Its name combines “Swara,” meaning voice or melody, and “Saraswati,” the Hindu goddess of knowledge, arts, and wisdom—symbolizing artistic inspiration. Duta Voice will compete in the Mixed Adult Choir and Folk Song Choir categories.
The concert provides a platform to sharpen vocal techniques, enhance team cohesion, and build confidence ahead of the competition. A representative of Duta Voice expressed enthusiasm, emphasizing their commitment to excellence. “We are excited and determined to give our best. This festival is a great opportunity to showcase our skills and teamwork.”
The event opened with a captivating fashion show, followed by performances of From a Distance (arr. Anna Abelada), Ave Maria (arr. Joseph Gabriel Rheinberger), I Love You (arr. Collin McCook), and Fajar dan Senja (arr. Ken Steven). The choir’s artistry mesmerized the audience.
The second session featured folk songs Montor-Montor-Montor Cilik, Cik-Cik Periuk, and Kruhay, performed with infectious energy and cultural vibrancy. The dynamic renditions immersed the audience in Indonesia’s rich musical traditions.
With months of intensive training, Duta Voice is set to deliver a standout performance at Swara Saraswati Festival 2025, aiming for a prestigious achievement. [angie/trans.drr]
