After a visit from the Association for Theological Education in South East Asia (ATESEA) delegation at the end of last year, the Faculty of Theology at Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) in Yogyakarta successfully regained ATESEA accreditation for all its academic programs. This achievement reflects the faculty’s commitment to delivering internationally recognized, high-quality theological education at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels.
Since 1982, when UKDW was still known as STTh Duta Wacana, the institution has been a member of ATESEA, a network of Christian seminaries and theological institutions headquartered in Iloilo City, Philippines. ATESEA also serves as an accrediting body for theological education across Southeast Asia, currently comprising 94 institutions and theological schools in 13 countries.
The ATESEA accreditation process evaluates academic quality, curriculum design, and values of inclusivity, emphasizing ethnic, gender, and religious diversity, as well as accessibility for students with disabilities.
This accreditation not only strengthens the Faculty of Theology’s recognition in Southeast Asia but also enhances its ability to attract students from diverse international backgrounds. [humasukde/trans.drr]
