Yogyakarta celebrated a remarkable achievement at the International Conference of Global Issues (ICGI) 2024, hosted by UKDW’s Faculty of Business on November 23. The event convened global scholars, industry experts, and researchers to address pressing sustainability issues. Two UKDW students secured top honors, clinching 1st and 3rd places.

Dwi Indah Ayu Kristanti, mentored by Dra. Erni Ekawati, M.SA., Ph.D., won 1st place for her study Sustainable Investing: Case Study in Sensitive Industries of Indonesia, China, and India, providing insights into sustainable investment strategies in challenging sectors. Meanwhile, Amabel Bella Cahyadi, guided by Lucia Nurbani Kartika, S.Pd., Dipl. Secr, M.M., claimed 3rd place for her research The Influence of Green Marketing, Brand Image, and Online Customer Review on Purchase Decisions of The Body Shop Products in Yogyakarta. Bella highlighted that green marketing and online reviews significantly shape consumer behavior, while brand image serves as a supportive, though less critical, factor. Additionally, four UKDW students ranked among the Top 10 Best Papers. Meanwhile STIE YKPN Yogyakarta claimed 2nd place for a study on consumer behavior in crowded retail spaces.

ICGI 2024, themed Impact of Sustainability on Organizations: Adapting to Global and Dynamic Challenges, marked UKDW’s inaugural international business conference, fostering international collaboration and addressing organizational challenges. Keynote speakers included:

  • Prof. Dr. Peter Mayer (Hochschule Osnabrück, Germany): Sustainability and transformation in Europe.
  • Silas Oghenemaro Emovwodo, Ph.D. (ASTA Research Center, Madagascar): Climate change awareness in Brunei Darussalam.
  • Pera Yulianingsih, S.E., M.Ak. (Indonesian Institute of Accountants): IFRS frameworks for accountability.
  • Chin Mui Yin, Ph.D. (Tunku Abdul Rahman University, Malaysia): Economic impacts of renewable energy.
  • Dr. Ansar Abbas (Hamdard University, Pakistan): Innovations in big data and machine learning.
