As institutions face the need to adapt in a rapidly changing world, building strong networks and partnerships has become essential. With this in mind, the Faculty of Business at Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta and the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Cenderawasih (UNCEN) in Jayapura have signed an agreement to collaborate on initiatives aimed at addressing the pressing issues of economic growth and investment across Indonesia.
The agreement, signed on November 8, 2024, by Dr. Perminas Pangeran, Dean of UKDW’s Faculty of Business, and Prof. Dr. Mesak Iek, Dean of UNCEN’s Faculty of Economics and Business, formalizes plans for collaborative research, community engagement, faculty and student exchanges, and joint events. The signing ceremony took place at the UKDW campus in Yogyakarta.
The partnership kicked off with a public lecture titled “Analyzing Economic Behavior Through a Regional Perspective: Insights from Papua,” led by UNCEN lecturers and researchers Dr. Agustina Sanggrangbano and Boy Piter Nizu Kekry. Held on November 7, the event drew an audience of over 130 UKDW students and faculty.
On November 8, a seminar titled “Investment Allocation and Equitable Regional Development” took place, focusing on the need for balanced investment distribution across Indonesia. The seminar addressed disparities caused by uneven investment and explored strategies to boost economic growth and job creation nationwide. Speakers included Dr. Agustina Sanggrangbano and Dr. Transna Putra Urip S. from UNCEN, along with Dr. Murti Lestari from UKDW. The discussion was moderated by Drs. Purnawan Hardiyanto of UKDW.
The seminar highlighted key policy challenges and strategies to ensure fairer investment distribution, recognizing that imbalances have long been a factor in regional development disparities in Indonesia. [humasukdw/trans.drr]
