Yoga Angkawijaya Kristiawan, a Biotechnology student at Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta, secured three prestigious awards at the Global Youth Innovation Summit (GYIS) 2024. The event took place from July 15-18, 2024, at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Representing UKDW, Yoga earned the Best Delegate award, recognized for his leadership and innovative ideas related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). His ability to lead discussions, offer creative solutions, and inspire collaboration among peers was highly praised.
In addition, Yoga and his team clinched the 1st Place Best Team SDGs Project award and the 3rd Place SDGs Project Video award. Their project, titled “HealBoost: Pioneering Healthy Lifestyle through Academic Entrepreneurship by Utilizing Local Resources,” showcased a student entrepreneurship program leveraging local resources to promote economic sustainability, social welfare, and healthy living through natural, high-quality products. The team’s competitive edge lay in integrating knowledge and research for product development and business strategy, focusing on community well-being (people), sustainable production methods (planet), and financial viability (profit). They also developed a social commerce platform to facilitate ordering health-focused food and beverages, promoting a healthy lifestyle and sustainable economic growth.
Expressing his gratitude, Yoga said, “Winning three awards at the Global Youth Innovation Summit 2024 is an invaluable experience. I am immensely grateful for the support from my family, friends, faculty, and UKDW campus, as well as the continuous backing from LLDIKTI Region V. This experience motivates me to continue innovating and contributing to projects that positively impact society. I believe that with hard work and dedication, we can achieve great things and make a difference in the world.”
Dr. Parmonangan Manurung, UKDW’s Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, Information, and Innovation, commended Yoga’s achievements, stating, “Yoga exemplifies an outstanding student who is active in various activities, achieves numerous accolades, and excels academically.
