Two teams from the Information Systems Department, Faculty of Information Technology (FTI) at Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) in Yogyakarta have secured the prestigious Student Creativity Program Incentive for 2024. This national-level competition, hosted by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, highlighted UKDW’s prowess in innovation and excellence.

Each team, comprising seven students and supervised by dedicated faculty members, secured funding across two distinct fields. The first team’s project, “Improving Literacy for Deaf Children in the ‘Dunia Tak Lagi Sunyi‘ Community Through Gaming Applications,” earned accolades in the PKM Scientific Article (PKM-AI) scheme. This notable effort was led by Kelvin Lie, Filistera Santoso, and Andreas Setiawan.

Similarly, the second team explored cutting-edge agricultural technology with their project titled “Agronomic Satellite Smart System: Machine Learning-Based Smart Farming System to Maintain Food Stability.” Their innovative concept received recognition under the PKM Written Futuristic Idea (PKM-GFT) scheme, showcasing the ingenuity of Elva Maria Evelina, Aurelita Nala Rucitanari, Febby Margareta Singgih, and Ananda Leon Saputra.

Dr. Parmonangan Manurung, S.T., M.T., IAI., the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, Information, and Innovation, expressed profound pride in the teams’ accomplishments, highlighting their resilience in a fiercely competitive landscape. “Congratulations to all the teams for securing this prestigious grant. Our gratitude extends to the dedicated faculty members and the tireless support from the Office of Student Affairs, Alumni, and Career Development in facilitating this journey,” remarked Dr. Manurung.

Meanwhile, Drs. Jong Jek Siang, M.Sc., the Coordinator of the UKDW 2024 Student Creativity Program (PKM) Team, noted the surge in proposals receiving PKM funding scheme incentives this year at UKDW. “This surge underscores the exceptional caliber of our students.
