Yogyakarta, June 13, 2024 – A captivating display of innovative educational play tools took center stage on Thursday at the Budya Wacana Kindergarten and Early Childhood Education (PAUD) Center, courtesy of students from the Product Design Department at Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW).
These cutting-edge educational tools, borne out of meticulous observation and case studies conducted by both students and lecturers of the Product Design Department, garnered attention for their creativity and functionality.
Dr. Koniherawati, the Coordinator of Craft Product Design Courses, emphasized the potential impact of these products on early childhood education, especially at the Budya Wacana Kindergarten and Early Childhood Education Center. “This exhibition is a culmination of the Craft Product Design course’s final semester projects. Here, students craft educational display tools specifically tailored for children at Budya Wacana. The positive feedback from parents and educators underscores the significance of these initiatives. Furthermore, we aim to nurture these projects into entrepreneurial ventures post-graduation, as they hold immense promise in enriching the learning environment,” she noted.
Anton Andi Nugroho, a parent of a Budya Wacana Kindergarten student, lauded the high quality and engaging presentation of UKDW’s Product Design creations. “The students’ work is impressive, with comprehensive materials like guidebooks and posters. I believe their products are market-ready, and the children’s enthusiasm is a testament to their appeal,” he remarked.
Reflecting on her experience, Sania Agustin, a student from UKDW’s Product Design Program Class of 2022, shared her joy in witnessing children enjoy her Nature Starks Explorer Tale Story product. “This experience is a valuable learning curve for me in refining my toy designs. Communicating design concepts effectively to craftsmen has been a challenge, but seeing children interact with my creations is immensely rewarding,” she shared.
The event marks a milestone in UKDW’s commitment to fostering innovative solutions for educational enrichment, bridging the gap between creativity and practical learning experiences. [humasukdw/trans.drr]
