UKDW’s Volleyball Student Club clinched second place in the Civil Festival UKRIM 2024 Volleyball Tournament. The team demonstrated exceptional performance throughout the tournament, participating in four group stage matches, semifinals, and the final.
During the group stage, the UKDW Volleyball Team dominated each match, emerging as the champion of Group A and advancing to the quarter-finals. In the quarter-finals, they secured a straight victory with a 2-0 score against APMD, propelling them to the final against Institut Pertanian (INSTIPER). Despite a strong effort, the UKDW team finished as the runner-up after acknowledging INSTIPER’s superiority in the final match.
Formed on March 7, 2024, by the student club division of the Student Executive Board (BEMU), the UKDW Volleyball Student Club, known as the Duta Wacana Volleyball Club (Duwa VC), consists of 58 male and female members. Club President Samuel Bangkit Prakoso, a Product Design student, highlighted that the team engages in weekly training sessions, friendly matches, and tournaments in its first year.
The members’ determination, interest, and talent are reflected in their structured programs. Since the club’s inception, Duwa VC has conducted ten training sessions from March to May 2024. Additionally, they played a friendly match against UKIRM Kalasan before registering for the Civil Festival UKRIM tournament, which featured 11 players, including 6 main players, 5 substitutes, and 2 officials.
Strong support from the campus and rectorate ensured a smooth debut for the UKDW Volleyball Team in the tournament. “This is our first experience and a reputation-building effort for the newly formed Duwa VC. We are very happy with the strong support from the campus and rectorate. This boosts our spirit to make Duwa VC members and the campus proud. I hope this club will continue to grow, become a proper platform for interests and talents, and keep achieving accolades for UKDW,” said Samuel. [humasukdw/trans.drr]
