On Thursday, February 22, 2024, a group of 137 twelfth-grade students from YSKI Semarang High School, accompanied by their teachers, visited Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta. Veronika Mayangsari, S.Psi., M.Si., the Principal of YSKI Semarang High School, led the group and received a warm welcome from Veronica Tiara, S.Kom., the Head of the Admissions and Promotion Office at Koinonia Auditorium, UKDW. This visit, named “Learning Together,” was a collaborative effort between UKDW’s Admissions and Promotion Office and the Centre of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Centrino).

In her welcome speech, Tiara mentioned that school visits are conducted frequently to familiarize high school students with academic and student-related activities. She highlighted the collaboration with three grant-winning business groups during the Learning Together event.

The twelfth-grade students, representing science, social, and language classes, participated in workshops led by the Heal-G, Nyikatbuos, and MaybeMay teams. The Heal-G team, a recipient of the P2MW 2022 grant in the food and beverage research-based category, guided science class students in making Kombucha Tea. The Nyikatbuos and MaybeMay teams led social and language class students.

Nyikatbuos, a grant recipient of P2MW 2023, focused on shoe cleaning services, maintenance, and repairs, emphasizing quality work at affordable prices. They introduced various tools and invited students to practice fast cleaning on their own shoes.

MaybeMay, a recipient of the MBKM Entrepreneurship grant from UKDW in 2023 in the creative industry category, engaged students in designing, later applying it to tote bags using the DTF printing method.

In addition to practical activities, students used the workshop session to ask questions and interview business practitioners about the intricacies and efforts involved in running a business while studying.

Veronika Mayangsari, S.Psi., M.Si., expressed hope that the workshop would inspire students, and she looks forward to eleventh-grade students participating in similar activities in the future, fostering collaborative learning between YSKI Semarang High School and UKDW. [Centrino.amp/Eng.drr]
