On Friday, February 23, 2024, the Centre of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Centrino) at Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta organized a Founder Sharing Session (FSS) Volume 1 at the Agape Atrium, UKDW. The MaybeMay team, a student startup at UKDW and the recipient of the 2023 MBKM Entrepreneurship Grant in the creative industry category served as guest speakers. Dr. Parmonangan Manurung, S.T., M.T. IAI (Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, Information, and Innovation), and Mujiono, S.E., M.Sc. (Head of the Office of Student Affairs, Alumni, and Career Development), also attended the event.
Dr. Parmonangan Manurung, in his address, underscored the event’s significance, offering a platform for a UKDW student team developing their business to share insights with peers. He expressed hope for students to embrace the entrepreneurial spirit, highlighting opportunities like the Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (P2MW), supported by the Office of Student Affairs, Alumni, and Career Development and Centrino.
Andi Maesara Prakosa, S.E. (Centrino staff and event coordinator), described FSS as a creative discussion program featuring founders/entrepreneurs sharing their business-building experiences. The program aims to fortify the entrepreneurship ecosystem among UKDW students, fostering support and positive influence on students’ interest in creative and innovative initiatives.
He remarked, “Through FSS, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the entrepreneurial concept among UKDW students. This platform allows students to exchange information and experiences related to entrepreneurship, including cultivating business interests and establishing relationships with partners. We hope this event inspires all participants.”
Jonathan Rainer (English Language Education Program) and I Made Krisna Mahardika (Management Program), founders of MaybeMay, not only shared experiences about starting a business but also introduced their product ‘Tote Bag to Vest.’ This innovative denim tote bag aims to reduce textile waste, with a focus on quality production in limited quantities, as explained by I Made Krisna Mahardika.
Jonathan Rainer and I Made Krisna Mahardika admitted that the journey with the MaybeMay team has been challenging. However, with hard work, dedication, effective teamwork, and support from various parties, the team has successfully produced well-received products. [mpk/Eng.drr]
