Three students of Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta performed excellently at Kapolres Gunung Kidul Cup 2023, fetching one gold medal, one silver, and one bronze. The competition took place at Siyono Sport Center in Gunung Kidul Region on June 11 – 13, 2023.
Steven Michael Arbyanto (Department of Divinity) grabbed gold medals in Senior Male Category for the Poomsae competition. Meanwhile, in the Kyourugi U54kg Male Category, Moses Glivaldo Letlora (Department of Architecture) got a bronze medal, and the silver medal went to Ronald Mesang Umbu Moto (Department of Architecture). The three students are members of Taekwondo Club at UKDW.
I’m very proud of the achievement of the Taekwondo team from UKDW. The athletes were able to finish the game splendidly despite facing phisical constraint during the competition. It means the champion mentality is burning in our soul,” said Steven who also serves as the President of Taekwondo Club UKDW.
The Taekwondo team is commited to join taekwondo championships at a higher level. “Hopefully, UKDW can continue to support us more in our next competitions so that the Taekwondo Club can be the place to deliver best athletes,” he added. (UKM/SMA)
