UKDW Adds New Professor in Theology, Strengthens Academic Capacity

Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta officially welcomed a new professor in the field of Theology. On August 4, 2025, Rev. Dr. Asnath Niwa Natar, M.Th., was inaugurated as Professor of Pastoral and Feminist Theology after receiving her decree from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (No. 2648/M/KPT.KP/2025).

The decree was handed over by Prof. Setyobudi Indartono, Ph.D., Head of LLDIKTI Region V, witnessed by UKDW Rector, the Dean of the Faculty of Theology, and invited guests. Prof. Asnath is now the 7th active professor at UKDW, further strengthening the university’s academic profile.

In her remarks, Prof. Asnath expressed gratitude and emphasized that the professorship is not only a personal achievement but also a moral and academic responsibility. Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Prof. Robert Setio, Ph.D., highlighted that Theology at UKDW is being developed in an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach, including partnerships with ICRS (UGM & UIN).

UKDW Rector, Dr.-Ing. Wiyatiningsih, S.T., M.T., congratulated Prof. Asnath and noted that two more faculty members are currently in the process of applying for professorship. Meanwhile, Prof. Setyobudi underscored the role of professors in strengthening Tri Dharma and accelerating the path toward UKDW’s goal of achieving excellence accreditation by 2028.

This milestone not only marks academic advancement for UKDW but also serves as inspiration for the university community in fostering excellence in higher education.
