LK-PTKI Student Camp 2025: Shaping the Next Generation of Christian Student Leaders
Student leadership in Christian universities plays a pivotal role—not only in managing student organizations but also in shaping the character, values, and mindset of future leaders. Amid rapid societal changes and growing challenges, student leaders are expected to possess more than managerial skills; they must also be firmly rooted in Christian values.
This core message took center stage at the 2025 Student Camp of the LK-PTKI (Student Organization Network of Christian Universities in Indonesia), held from July 1 to 4 at Omah Babadan, the dormitory complex of Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) in Yogyakarta. As the first edition of the Student Camp, UKDW was entrusted with hosting the inaugural event.
Vionita Angelin Simanjuntak, S.Fil., who coordinated the event, explained that this year’s theme was “Collaborative and Impactful Christian Student Leadership.” The camp brought together 49 students from 17 Christian universities across Indonesia. Participating institutions included UKDW, Institut Agama Kristen Negeri (IAKN) Manado, Institut Teknologi DEL, STIKES Bethesda Yakkum, Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan Immanuel, Universitas Ciputra, Universitas Dhyana Pura, Universitas Kristen Artha Wacana, Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI) Jakarta, Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI) Maluku, Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI) Toraja, Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana, Universitas Kristen Maranatha, Universitas Kristen Petra, Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana, Universitas Kristen Wira Wacana, and Universitas Pelita Harapan.
The program featured a series of workshops focused on leadership within student organizations, designed to equip participants to lead with integrity, serve with sincerity, and foster constructive collaboration—both on campus and in the wider community. The workshops aimed to instill values-driven leadership, emphasizing personal example and Christian-based service.
Participants also took part in an outreach program that brought them to Pedak Baru Village Hall in Bantul, where they engaged with local civil society groups. This activity provided a hands-on experience in community service and allowed students to interact directly with local residents. Through this initiative, students were encouraged to build cross-sector collaboration, understand community needs, and develop sustainable, impactful actions.
“This Student Camp strengthens the network of Christian student leaders from across the country while instilling a model of leadership grounded in Christian faith,” said Vionita. “True leadership begins with a heart ready to act, to share, and to continually learn—so it can create real, lasting impact for others.” [humasukdw/tr.drr]
