On February 20, 2025, Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) and Orang Tua Group officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during a ceremony attended by leaders from several Indonesian universities. Held at Aruss Hotel Semarang, the MoU marks the start of a strategic partnership aimed at equipping UKDW students and graduates for the workforce while providing Orang Tua Group with skilled talent.
This collaboration is designed to help UKDW students and alumni transition smoothly into their careers, reducing the time it takes to secure jobs in their respective fields. It also aims to increase their chances of being hired directly while ensuring Orang Tua Group gains access to a pool of high-quality, job-ready candidates.
The partnership includes several key initiatives, such as exclusive invitations for UKDW students to attend Orang Tua Group’s OT Job Fair and Campus Hiring events. UKDW’s top graduates will also be recommended for internship and employment opportunities, and students will have the chance to visit Orang Tua Group’s offices and factories for industry exposure.
UKDW Rector, Dr.-Ing. Wiyatiningsih, S.T., M.T., emphasized the importance of this collaboration in preparing students for the professional world.
“We hope this partnership will provide tremendous benefits for our students and alumni as they prepare for their careers. Working with Orang Tua Group will open doors to new opportunities and help our graduates enter the workforce more quickly. This collaboration also strengthens the connection between academia and industry, ensuring that UKDW graduates are well-equipped to compete in the job market,” she said.
Yosua JAP L.H., Chief of Human Energy Officer at Orang Tua Group, highlighted the advantages of this partnership for the company in sourcing top talent.
“As industry professionals, we want to share our knowledge. The younger generation today needs to develop the right skills, character, and mindset to succeed in business, which comes with many challenges. Through this collaboration, we hope to exchange valuable insights and support universities in bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world business applications,” he explained.
During the event, UKDW was recognized as the 7th among the top 10 universities with the most alumni employed at Orang Tua Group. This achievement reflects the strong contributions of UKDW graduates to the industry and highlights the university’s commitment to academic excellence and career preparation.
This MoU is expected to bring significant benefits to both UKDW and Orang Tua Group by improving job readiness and creating more career opportunities for students. With a range of joint programs and initiatives in place, this collaboration aims to make a lasting impact on students, alumni, and the business sector alike. [Lia/trans.drr]
