The Faculty of Architecture and Design (FAD) at Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta has formalized a partnership with the Society for Health, Education, Environment, and Peace (SHEEP) Indonesia Foundation. The agreement was signed on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the FAD UKDW Master’s Program Architecture Tutorial Room 2. Both institutions committed to collaborating on research and community engagement initiatives.

Andreas Subiyono, Director of SHEEP Indonesia Foundation, highlighted that the NGO focuses on empowering communities in the fields of health, education, environmental sustainability, and peace-building.

“Our mission is to empower marginalized communities to become resilient and critical thinkers. Currently, we are concentrating on disaster management and climate change. We need research with a landscape management approach to help strengthen community resilience,” Subiyono explained.

Dr. Imelda Irmawati Damanik, S.T., M.A(UD), Dean of FAD UKDW, noted that the university recently launched the Center for Disaster Risk Management and Sustainable Development, which could collaborate with SHEEP Indonesia in future projects. “We also have a disaster and social inclusion lab that aligns well with this partnership,” she added.

Additionally, during the event, an implementation arrangement was signed for scholarships to support new students enrolling in UKDW’s Master’s Program in Architecture. [humasukdw/trans.drr]
