Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta successfully hosted an alumni gathering at Gosha Kitchen & Patisserie Gatsu, Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday, July 13, 2024. The event saw the participation of the Rector, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Research, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, Information, and Innovation, and over 60 alumni from various cohorts.
UKDW Rector Dr.-Ing. Wiyatiningsih, S.T., M.T., thanked the alumni for their attendance and shared updates on UKDW’s achievements and future strategic plans. “This event offers alumni the chance to exchange experiences and ideas that can support UKDW’s progress,” she said, hoping to strengthen the alumni network and open new career opportunities.
Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, Information, and Innovation, Dr. Parmonangan Manurung, S.T., M.T., IAI, expressed gratitude and announced plans for a fundraising initiative to support university development programs. “Every contribution will significantly enhance facilities and scholarships for students,” he noted.
Alumni engaged enthusiastically, sharing college memories and professional experiences. The networking opportunities were expected to foster collaboration and career advancement among participants, reinforcing a strong alumni network across generations.
Rev. Trifena Wati S.Si.Teol, Chairperson of KADUWA—the Duta Wacana Alumni Association—for the Bali Region, praised the event. “Today’s gathering is extraordinary. Alumni from various faculties and years mingled seamlessly, showcasing pride and gratitude for UKDW as a comforting and inclusive home. Thank you, UKDW, our beloved alma mater.”
Rev. Dr. I Made Priyana, M.Th., an alumnus from 1979, expressed pride and joy at reuniting with fellow alumni. “Thank you, I send greetings from Bali to UKDW and the Duta Wacana family,” he said.
Florence Rizka Rahardian, an Architecture alumna, and Dian Grace, an English Education alumna, both from the 2017 cohort, were delighted by the multi-cohort attendance. “This event should continue to grow, fostering relationships among alumni,” they remarked.
UKDW used the occasion to update alumni on recent developments, including innovative programs and international collaborations, aiming to instill pride and encourage continued contributions to the alma mater’s advancement.
The alumni gathering emphasized that relationships with alumni extend beyond graduation, with UKDW committed to being a second home for its graduates. The event served as both a nostalgic reunion and a platform for building productive networks, opening collaborative opportunities, and creating positive synergies between alumni and the university.
