Harianjogja.com, JOGJA—The UKDW SERU event at Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) on Saturday, July 13, 2024, brought an electrifying atmosphere to Yogyakarta, drawing a lively crowd of students and locals. The highlight of the night was a high-energy performance by popular artist Ndarboy, who captivated the audience with his hit songs.

Ndarboy’s set, featuring tracks like “Koyo Jogja Istimewa,” “Mendung Tanpo Udan,” and “Anak Lanang,” had the crowd singing along and dancing with enthusiasm, bringing the event to a spirited conclusion.

Earlier in the evening, the stage was set ablaze by performances from Yogyakarta’s own Jumat Gombrong and Karaoke Paripurna. The event also showcased talented high school bands from SMA Bopkri 1, SMA Kolese De Britto, and SMA Stella Duce 1, adding to the vibrant energy of the night.

Veronica Tiara, the event coordinator, explained that the event aimed to introduce UKDW with the tagline “SERU,” highlighting the university’s dynamic academic and extracurricular life. “UKDW SERU is designed to show that we excel not only in academics but also in non-academic activities like music events,” Tiara said.

This edition of UKDW SERU marked the first major event since the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on engaging youth and students from junior and senior high schools. “Our target audience includes young people and students, which is why we included guest stars from diverse music genres and featured cool high school bands from Yogyakarta,” she added.

In addition to the live music, the event featured a range of food and drink stalls at gate 1. “Live music is best enjoyed with food and drink, and we wanted to ensure that our attendees were comfortable and satisfied. The audience had the freedom to move between gate 1 and gate 2,” Tiara noted.

Looking ahead, Tiara hopes UKDW SERU will become a recurring event with various themes. “This time, the focus was on live music. Future editions might include different themes like bands or games, keeping the event exciting and fresh,” she concluded.
