Posyandu activities are essential for monitoring the health and growth of toddlers and children, involving check-ups, weighing, and measuring height and head circumference. Currently, this vital data is recorded on paper and later inputted into Microsoft Excel, a process prone to errors and inefficiencies. Additionally, the Child Health Card (KMS) often gets lost or damaged.

To address these issues, four Information Systems students from Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) have developed the SmartYandu app. Under the guidance of Drs. Jong Jek Siang, M.Sc., this innovation received funding from the 2024 Student Creativity Program in the Community Service Scheme (PKM-PM) by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek).

The team, consisting of Filistera Santoso, Mario Aditya Kurnianto, Andreas Setiawan, and Rafael Evan Kristanto, observed operations at Wijaya Kusuma Posyandu in Jlamprang Lor Hamlet in Bantul Regency. They designed SmartYandu, a web-based application optimized for mobile use, to facilitate real-time data recording and provide an efficient digital storage system. The app also allows mothers to monitor their children’s growth through a dedicated feature.

Team leader Filistera Santoso explained that upon the app’s completion, the team will create a user manual and offer training on its installation and daily use to ensure full utilization.

“We are very grateful that our proposal, titled SmartYandu: Child and Toddler Recording System at Wijaya Kusuma Posyandu, Bantul, received funding. This success is due to the team’s hard work, support, and prayers from many. We sincerely thank our parents, supervising lecturers, and the university for their unwavering support,” said Santoso.

Drs. Jong Jek Siang, M.Sc., praised the students’ efforts. “I am very proud because they not only learn theory on campus but also apply it to the community. Their ability to identify problems and develop appropriate solutions in PKM-PM is commendable,” he concluded. [mpk/Eng.drr]
