The Faculty of Information Technology (FTI) of Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta hosted a visit from Chulalongkorn University and Thammasat University from April 19-22, 2024. The visit of these two universities aimed to enhance collaboration in developing advanced technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), the Metaverse, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Chulalongkorn University and Thammasat University are the two oldest universities in Thailand.

A series of activities were organized, engaging the students and lecturers of FTI UKDW and the university leadership. These activities included intensive training sessions on the Metaverse, AI and music integration, research discussions, general lectures, and the digital mapping of the UKDW campus into the Metaverse. FTI students and graduate students from Chulalongkorn University conducted the data collection for the mapping project. The results can be viewed at Duta Verse.

The Dean of FTI UKDW, Dr. Restyandito, emphasized that the visit was about expanding international cooperation and sharing knowledge and experience regarding the latest technological advancements. He highlighted that this collaboration is expected to bring significant benefits to both institutions and accelerate progress in information technology. “This joint effort will also create opportunities for faculty members and students to advance their knowledge and facilitate cross-disciplinary research and inter-university cooperation,” he said.
