Three student groups from Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta have successfully secured funding for the 2024 Student Creativity Program (PKM) from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) RI. UKDW continues to encourage students to participate in PKM events annually to enhance creativity and innovation through the application of their academic knowledge.

Mujiono, S.E., M.Sc., Head of the Office of Student Affairs, Alumni, and Career Development (Bureau 3), explained that the three successful groups comprise 12 students and three lecturers. This year, UKDW succeeded in three out of the eight PKM fields. “The three student groups each received funding in different fields: constructive video ideas (PKM-VGK), community service (PKM-PM), and external research (PKM-RE),” he stated.

Mujiono further detailed the proposals. The project titled “Designing a School E-report System for Christian Schools in Indonesia to Reduce Bullying Cases” created by students from the Humanity Studies and Information Systems, received the PKM-VGK funding scheme. Meanwhile, the proposal titled “SmartYandu: Information System for Recording Children and Toddlers at Posyandu Wijaya Kusuma Bantul” prepared by Information Systems students, received a PKM-PM funding scheme. Another proposal, titled “Analysis of the Antioxidant and Antibacterial Activity of Cascara Arabica (Coffea arabica) Drinks against Helicobacter pylori Bacteria that Causes Gastritis” prepared by Biology students, received the PKM-RE funding scheme.

The Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, Information, and Innovation, Dr. Parmonangan Manurung, congratulated the three UKDW teams that secured PKM funding. “Congratulations on your achievements. I also thank the entire team for their hard work in preparing the proposals. Stay enthusiastic and keep striving. This success is also due to the support of the lecturers as advisors and Bureau 3. Congratulations and thank you. We hope to achieve even more in the coming years,” he said.

Drs. Jong Jek Siang, M.Sc., Coordinator of PKM UKDW 2024, also expressed his gratitude for this accomplishment. “I am very grateful that UKDW can maintain its positive track record in PKM, especially with the enthusiastic involvement of lecturers guiding the students. The students are incredibly creative, converting their ideas into high-quality proposals,” he remarked. [humasukdw/Eng.bel.ed.drr]
