Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta is dedicated to fostering collaborations and improving education accessibility as part of its commitment to Tri Dharma, the Three Pillars of Higher Education. The faculties at UKDW regularly collaborate with various partners and schools to enhance the quality of education in Indonesia. These initiatives include student mentoring programs for participation in the National Science Olympiad (OSN), IELTS training, teacher training, and other educational programs.

One such collaboration is with the Faculty of Information Technology, which supports teachers at different school levels under YPPN Budya Wacana in developing a computational thinking curriculum to enhance students’ logical and reasoning skills. Dr. Phil. Lucia Dwi Krisnawati, Head of the Office of Partnerships and Public Relations at UKDW, highlighted this during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UKDW Yogyakarta and the Yayasan Tarakanita Regional Office Yogyakarta on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the Pdt. Dr. Tasdik Seminar Room, UKDW.

“We assist these teachers in developing sustainable curricula and collaborate on creating textbooks and modules. This computational thinking curriculum aims to help students grasp complex problems and develop problem-solving skills, preparing them for various competitions,” she explained.

Dr.-Ing. Wiyatiningsih, S.T., M.T., the Rector of UKDW, welcomed the collaboration between UKDW Yogyakarta and Yayasan Tarakanita Regional Office Yogyakarta, expressing hopes for its continuation due to the potential for joint accomplishments.

Sr. Laurentina Setyasminarti CB, Head of the Yayasan Tarakanita Regional Office Yogyakarta, expressed her desire to collaborate with UKDW in areas such as internships or practical work, student mentoring, and faculty development. “This collaboration is beneficial as we cannot progress alone in education development. Together, we aim to promote Christian values within the community,” she emphasized.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by the Vice-Rector for Human Resource Development, Promotion, and Networking, Deans of the Faculty of Architecture and Design and Faculty of Business, Vice Deans of the Faculty of Biotechnology, Faculty of Information Technology UKDW, Faculty of Education and Humanities, Head of the Office of Student Affairs, Alumni, and Career Development UKDW, Deputy Head of the Office of Partnerships and Public Relations, Head of the Admission and Promotion Unit from UKDW, also Head of the General Affairs Section of the Yayasan Tarakanita Regional Office Yogyakarta, and Public Relations Staff from Yayasan Tarakanita Regional Office Yogyakarta.
