Easter holds immense significance for Christians as they commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, symbolizing victory over death and the promise of a new beginning. Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta, as one of the Christian higher education institutions, also celebrates Easter every year. However, this year’s Easter celebration at UKDW had a unique element – alongside the Easter Celebration Service was the inauguration and affirmation of UKDW’s officials for the 2024-2026 term. Themed “Open Chests, Joyful Lives,” this event took place at the Koinonia Auditorium UKDW on Monday, April 1, 2024.
During the service, Rev. Dr. Frans Setyadi Manurung, M.Th. (a Faculty of Theology Lecturer at UKDW), delivered a sermon taken from Mark 16:1-8. He emphasized that while hope abounds, life’s journey also brings various confusing and troubling realities. He reminded everyone that these difficulties are not the only aspects of life, as the power of Christ’s resurrection works within believers’ lives, offering hope and strength.
Additionally, Dr.-Ing. Wiyatiningsih, S.T., M.T., the Rector of UKDW, inaugurated the leaders of UKDW’s directorates, institute, bureaus, and units for the 2024-2026 term, effective from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2026. Dr.-Ing. Wiyatiningsih noted that this change in leadership would enhance UKDW’s operations. She highlighted the need to establish an institutional quality assurance directorate to oversee quality assurance processes comprehensively and emphasized the complexity of HR management, necessitating its upgrade to a bureau.
