UKDW Rector, Dr.-Ing. Wiyatiningsih, S.T., M.T. and Vice-Rector for Human Resources Capacity Development, Promotion, and Networking (Vice-Rector IV) Rev. Wahju S. Wibowo, Ph.D. took part in Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) Partner School President Forum on 14-15 November 2023 in Tainan, Taiwan. More than 20 universities in Asia attended this forum. In addition, CJCU’s high school partners were also present. The Rector of UKDW was one of the panelists in this event.
Rev. Wahju S. Wibowo, Ph.D. stated that the theme of the 2023 CJCU Partner School President Forum is “Flip Here and Now: University as a Creation of Quality Public Space” with an emphasis on sustainability, which represents the university’s values that will be passed on to future generations.
“Sustainability is not just a slogan because it is closely related to our everyday environment. To shed light on this important topic, two environmental activists, Kana Watando and Sil Van de Velde, two young INOW project directors from Kamikatsu, Japan, were invited to share their experiences and project implementation. They will also explore everyday zero-waste practices as a manifestation of young people’s vision for a sustainable future. By learning from their experiences, participants discussed and hoped to reflect on how universities develop young talents so that they can contribute to sustainability issues. “Participants are also invited to see sustainable programs related to the environment carried out by CJCU,” he added.
During their visit to Taiwan, the Rector and Vice Rector IV of UKDW also met with several UKDW partners to discuss future partnerships. (WSW/Eng.drr)
