The Tourism Agency of Yogyakarta, in collaboration with Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta, conducted the Street Harmony #2 Shopping and Culinary Tourism event on Friday-Saturday, 3-4 November 2023. The event was held along Jalan Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo. This year, the Yogyakarta City Government is also collaborating with GKJ Gondokusuman to boost tourism activity in the City of Yogyakarta. This activity is also part of a series of events for the 61st Anniversary of Duta Wacana and the 110th Anniversary of GKJ Gondokusuman.
With the theme “Ragam Budaya Nusantara” (Nusantara’s Cultural Diversity), the two-day event showcased various potentials of the Gondokusuman Sub-District, starting from art to micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) products. Street Harmony Shopping and Culinary Tour #2 was enlivened with a cultural dance parade from the UKDW’S cultural clubs, a fashion show with traditional clothing performed by UKDW students, decoration of 11 cultural houses made by UKDW students, lion dance performances, magic on the street, and entertaining musical performances.
In his opening remark, the Rector of UKDW Dr.-Ing. Wiyatingsih, S.T., M.T. expressed her appreciation to the cultural clubs at UKDW for enlivening the Street Harmony Shopping and Culinary Tourism event #2. “This activity is a celebration filled with shopping and culinary tours from Yogyakarta Tourism Agencies, as well as various Indonesian cultures performed by UKDW and GKJ Gondokusuman. Next year, we plan to broaden this event by collaborating with SMA BOPKRI 1, SMA BOPKRI 2, Balai Yasa, and Galeria Mall so that more people and a wider community can benefit from this event,” she said.
Dr.-Ing. Wiyatingsih, S.T., M.T. also said this occasion is a happy moment for UKDW as it has just celebrated its 61st Anniversary. UKDW has reached an age that is mature enough to continue to develop. “Please support us so that in the future, UKDW can continue to produce useful outcomes for the sustainability of our surrounding environment. We hope this collaboration can continue and stay in harmony,” he added. (mpk/Eng.drr)
