Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) Yogyakarta has strengthened the partnership with the Indonesia Artificial Intelligence Society (IAIS), whose members includes academician, researcher, as well as corporate. To support the development of technology, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, UKDW’s Faculty of Information Technology signed an agreement with the consortium of IAIS, Faculty of Technics of Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya, Universitas Bina Nusantara, Faculty of Technics and Information Technology of Swiss German University, Faculty of Information Technology of Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana, and Faculty of Community Health of Universitas Indonesia.
The agreement was signed on Monday, January 24, 2022. All parties have agreed to conduct a collaboration program using the IAIS platform. The activities include meetings, seminars, training, course, link and match between talent, industry, and university; certification, research, and publication.
The Director of IAIS Dr. Ir. Lukas, MAI, CISA, IPM. said that the advance of technology today came from AI which is a branch of computer science that maps human intelligence onto machines.
“This cooperation agreement is a manifestation of awareness and openness on the idea that the development of AI can not be achieved alone. Through this consortium, there will be various programs, of course with the support of potential stakeholders, and the AI we’re going to work on should bring benefits for society, especially in research development and for the betterment of Indonesia. IAIS was also involved in drafting the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, which was launched two years ago. It brought us together in the same corridor for Indonesia’s development,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Dean of Faculty of Information Technology Restyandito, S.Kom., MSIS., Ph.D., was very enthusiastic about this cooperation and ready to collaborate in the programs that have been agreed upon.
“We know that in the era of Industry 4.0, AI becomes one of the keys. Thus, we hope that this cooperation becomes one of the actions to prepare ourselves to face Industry 4.0. I’m very excited because this consortium consists of various academic disciplines, not only computer science. Hopefully, in the future, more stakeholders will join this consortium because AI will have an impact on all aspects of life. I hope through this consortium we can share resources and knowledge for our growth together,” he concluded.
