English Education Department’s Final Project Exhibition
English Education Department (EED) of Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) held its first joint exhibition with the theme “Galaxy of PBI”. The joint exhibition was organized by the third-year students who attended Introduction to Linguistics class and the first-year students who attended Extensive Reading class. The exhibition was held at Atrium Didaktos and lasted for four days from December 3-6, 2018.
The exhibition was a part of the final assignment of Extensive Reading and Introduction to Linguistics course. Every student was required to make a poster and present it on certain day during the exhibition event. Many students from other departments came to enjoy the exhibition. The committee provided some stickers for the visitors to vote for the best two posters by sticking the stickers below the posters. Those who could participate in the voting were students from other departments or EED students who are in a different year. In addition, the purpose of this exhibition was to further introduce EED to students from different departments, encourage students to do public speaking, be creative, and increase students’ appreciation in the field of linguistics and reading activities.
The opening remark from the Head of EED, Paulus Widiatmoko, M.Pd., followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the opening of this exhibition. In this event, the students together with the lecturers also did flashmob which lasted for about three minutes. Not only students and lecturers from UKDW visited the exhibition, but there were also visitors from other universities and schools. “I hope this event will continue next year, it will be great, the concept will be improved,” said Mrs. Ista Maharsi from Indonesian Islamic University Yogyakarta. She also said that this activity was very good and appreciated the student’s effort in holding the exhibition.
The exhibition was closed on December 6, 2018. During the closing ceremony, the result of the vote for the most favorite posters was announced. The two favorite posters went to Sry Mora Siahaan, a student of Introduction to Lingusitics class, and Yessica Girsang, a student of Extensive Reading class. [Kezia]
